KU Med Center Job

Position Summary:

Under the leadership of the associate director of creative services, the graphic designer creates print and gigital materials to support the University of Kansas Medical Center's strategic initiatives as directed by the Office of Communications. Additionally, the graphic designer creates print and digital materials for KU Medical Center departments, offices and units, as well as The University of Kansas Health System, The University of Kansas Cancer Center, KU Endowment and other campus customers as appropriate. Position reports to the associate director of creative services.

Requirements:

 Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in graphic arts, digital design or other discipline involving substantial training in the applications of technology to visualize information; or an associate’s technical degree in graphic arts and two years of directly related work experience 

 Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Macintosh operating systems environment 

 Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of graphic design, pre/post printing production and proven knowledge of software such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office 

 Knowledge and experience with pre- and post-press print production 

 Ability to work as part of a creative team with writers, photographers and art directors on large graphic design projects such as magazines, annual reports, newsletters 

 Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing 

 Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds 

 Ability to work effectively with individuals at various organizational and educational levels 

 Self-starter with the ability to prioritize projects with minimal direction and supervision 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

 Experience in developing graphic materials for health care professionals or higher education institutions 

 2-4 years’ experience working as a graphic designer, either at an agency, other institution or as a freelance designer 

 Experience with creating digital marketing materials such as e-newsletters, e-invites, etc.
