WE ARE HIRING A PART-TIME CONTENT WRANGLER - IS THAT YOU?
OK, so just like everybody who’s anybody, we have a blog and are on all of the relevant social media channels. Unfortunately, like a lot of companies, we don’t maintain them very well. But that’s going to change and we want you to be a part of it all. This is a genuine opportunity to get paid to build your content portfolio while, potentially, working toward a long-term, full-time position with a fun and growing start-up.
SO, WHAT IN THE HECK IS A CONTENT WRANGLER?
First of all, we understand that Content Wrangler is one of those unbearably cute terms used by start-ups to make a crappy job seem, well, bearable. But that’s not the case with us, we just don’t know what else to call it. We thought about “Social Media Coordinator,” but that implies we want you to park your butt on Instagram all day. We considered “Content Marketing Coordinator,” but that seems really boring and not terribly creative. Our position requires your entire brain to be ring on all cylinders. Your right-brain is going to be shooting photographs, creating imagery in Photoshop and Illustrator, helping with blog posts, graphic design projects and making short videos for YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Simultaneously, your left-brain is making and supporting an aggressive social media posting schedule, evaluating our social media performance, helping with our blog and participating in ongoing strategy sessions about what’s next.
DO YOU HAVE THE EXPERIENCE?
If you’re a designer, it would be nice if you can write as well as help us keep our content organized and continually up-to-date. If you’re a writer, you better be able to contribute on the visual side of things. If you’re an expert in creating Vines, Periscope and other motion-related content, you’ll need to also need to be organized and, ideally, be able to help with a blog post or two.
Oh...and you better be speedy. Don’t worry, though, you won’t be stuck on an island — you’ll be working daily with both the CMO and COO on projects.
Additionally, you may be asked to help with other marketing functions (email, events), product fulfillment, and some general once work. You know...the glamorous part of the job. You’re welcome.
WHO IS LIFE EQUALS?
Life Equals is a small start-up with a big goal: fixing the American Diet. We’re a company founded by friends who believe that making small changes in what you eat and how you live can bring about big changes. But we need help in making everyone else believe in it too. We are extremely committed and we’re growing network of ambassadors, yoga instructors, organic health and dietary professionals and lifestyle coaches, who believe in us as well.
HERE'S WHAT YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW
Timeline: We will need an intern for the summer months, approximately June 1 to August 7. We will work with your school schedule. Don't worry.
Location: Life Equals HQ, Westport, KCMO
Hours: It will be between 30 and 40 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekends (if events are involved).
Pay: Up to $15 per hour
More: Ideally, we’d like someone who is a junior or senior in college or higher, although we would consider recent graduates. You are probably a journalism, communications, graphic design or marketing major. Your social media experience and portfolio will carry a great deal of weight.
Gear: You’re gonna need a laptop, smartphone and reliable transportation. A bonus would be a DSLR, but we have that equipment if you don’t.
Who Are You: We are looking for someone who is optimistic, who believes that one person can make big changes. We’re looking for someone who lives their passions and doesn’t just talk a good talk. We want an intern who is not grateful to us for the job, but grateful that they have the opportunity to change people’s lives. And we need someone who believes in eating and living an honest and healthy life.
