Internship Opportunities » The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

February 11, 2016

(courtesy of Julie Metzler) This is to announce the opening of the application process to the Durwood Foundation paid Internships at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. An annual event, the Durwood internship applications are open to students who will be juniors or seniors in the 2016-2017 academic year beginning with the summer session.

It is a two step process:

Step 1: Please complete the attached Intent Form and bring it to my office, which is in Academic Affairs on the second floor of Jannes library, no later than 5:00 on Monday, March 14th.  The form must include the recommendation and signature of your primary studio instructor or liberal arts teacher.

Step 2: Between February 23 - March 14, you may apply online at http://www.nelson-atkins.org/welcome/JobIntern.cfm  There will be a variety of internships for which you may apply.    Please read the attached Application Directions for the information you'll need before you proceed.

After March 14th, the Museum will review the applications of students who have submitted their intent form to me and have applied on the Nelson's website.  There is some lag time, but much activity going on behind the scenes.  The Museum's schedule is March 21 - 30 candidate interviews,  April 4 final candidate selections due to the Human Resources office, April 4-8 HR offers positions and notifies those students not selected.

Please feel free to contact Julie Metzler if you have questions about this process.  For support with your cover letter and resume, please contact Ari Fish in AACS, afish@kcai.edu.
